There’s a belief in tech and marketing circles that if you want to grow, you have to leave. That staying means stagnating. That real career progression happens between companies, not within them.
Andreea Puscoci’s story says otherwise.
In six years, she’s moved from Autovit Romania to OLX. From managing one market to three. From Bucharest to Lisbon. From automotive to goods to services and back. She’s changed brands, categories, countries — and never once changed her employer.
“The biggest win for me? I was able to grow, change countries, and still keep doing the work I love within the same company.”
Andreea joined OLX Group in 2018 as part of the marketing team at Autovit Romania, the country’s leading automotive classifieds platform. It was a high-performance environment — talented team, constant innovation, intense pressure to maintain market leadership.
After several years, she felt ready for a different challenge. When the opportunity came to move to OLX and cover Romania, Bulgaria, and Portugal, she took it.
“It meant stepping into a more international role and pushing myself outside what had become familiar. It wasn’t an easy decision, especially leaving behind such a great team, but it’s been a journey of learning and meaningful change.”
The shift from a vertical platform like Autovit to a horizontal one like OLX brought new complexity. “You’re competing across multiple categories, with diverse competitors and market dynamics. It was definitely more complex and less predictable, but that’s exactly what made it exciting.”
One year into her new role, Andreea relocated to Lisbon and continued her work from there.
“Living abroad had always been a personal dream. My partner was in Porto, and we decided to make the move to Lisbon together. It felt like the right moment, both personally and professionally.”
OLX supported the transition: her managers were encouraging, the company handled contracts and tax processes, and she received Portuguese language classes twice a week.
“The biggest win was being able to stay within OLX Group and continue doing the work I enjoy, just from a different country.”
Andreea is quick to acknowledge it hasn’t all been smooth.
“The hardest part has been the social life. Moving to a new country means starting from scratch, without your usual circle of friends or family around.”
She’s found ways to rebuild — a puppy helped her meet people, and the lifestyle shift (fresh food, better weather, outdoor living) made a difference.
From a work perspective, the period has been dynamic. “I moved between categories several times. It’s been a lot more changes compared to the stability I had before, but it’s also kept things interesting and helped me learn different parts of the business.”
It’s not a fairytale. But it’s real growth — the kind that stretches you, not just your CV.
“Have the courage to challenge yourself and explore change. If you believe in the company, look for a place where you can grow, whether that’s a different brand, market, role, or even a different country.”
Andreea’s journey is proof that internal mobility — when it’s supported, not just talked about — can be a genuine career accelerator.
It shows that you don’t have to choose between personal dreams and professional growth. That reinvention doesn’t require resignation. And that the right company is the one that makes room for your ambition, wherever it takes you.
